When I started I had no idea whether anyone would subscribe, free or paid, to receive the newsletter. Over time, people did both—for which I am grateful. Your encouragement is the wind that moves this project across the waters.
I have never been comfortable hiding my work behind a “paywall.” I want everyone receiving Letters to read each piece to the very final word. I believe this is what every writer wants (that’s why we write).
With that in mind, I want to clarify a new subscription model for Letters:
Subscribe for $5/month or $50/year—entirely optional;
Remain a free subscriber with full access to every post.
The new model renders paid subscriptions equivalent to a “gratuity.” I’m grateful if you like my work and express your appreciation by being a paid subscriber. If not, that’s OK, too.
But, remember—the choice of paid or free subscription is entirely yours. If you’re satisfied with your current subscription status, there’s nothing for you to do.
Thank you!
