Israel at the end of the Last Days
The Nation Israel still exists during the End Times prophesied in scripture. But what about America?
What do you say?
For scripture readers, I’ve created a poll of plausible reasons for the absence of America (or an America-like nation) from this Last Days prophetic scenario.
Please choose the option you deem most plausible:
The back story
Bible prophecy tells of a yet-future regional war in which a confederation of specific (and contemporarily identifiable) nations launches a major offensive against Israel.1
You can read the details in Ezekiel chapters 38/39.
Those familiar with the scriptures find it curious that no other nation will aid Israel during this conflict.
There is no mention of—nor allusion to—assistance from a “world power” that resembles contemporary America. This is curious given America’s longstanding support for the Jewish Nation since 1948.
Fear not (spoiler alert)
We find an answer to Israel’s dilemma in Ezekiel chapter 39 where the LORD delivers some bad news to Gog, the leader of the future invasion of Israel:
“You [Gog] shall fall upon the mountains of Israel, you and all your troops and the peoples who are with you; I will give you to birds of prey of every sort and to the beasts of the field to be devoured. You shall fall on the open field; for I have spoken,” says the Lord God. “And I will send fire on Magog and on those who live in security in the coastlands. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.” —Ezekiel 39:4-6
I will withhold my perspective on America’s apparent absence from the Ezekiel prophecy until the Poll yields some data from readers. Still, there is a very telling proclamation from God concerning how Israel is treated—and the consequences to Nations regarding their treatment of Israel.
Here God speaks to Abram/Abraham, through whom the nation Israel was birthed (through his decendants Isaac and Jacob/Israel):
“I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”2—Genesis 12:2-3
Wisdom tells us that blessing Israel has a huge upside, and cursing Israel has a horrifying downside.
According to the Ezekiel prophecy, Russia (Magog), Iran (Persia), and Sudan (Ethiopia) will participate in the coordinated attack on Israel. Other combatant names are less certain concerning contemporary sovereign nations. Ironically, according to the prophecy, Israel’s nearest neighbors in the region are not implicated in the attack (Jordan, Syria, Egypt, etc.).
Messiah Jesus would come through the line of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel and so bless all Nations.
